Walloon Village General Store Opens in Temporary Location in time for Summer 2023 Season

Walloon Lake residents and summer visitors to this idyllic northern Michigan community will be able to find an expanded selection of groceries, snacks, beverages and other goodies at the Walloon Village General Store, which has just opened in a temporary location at 4128 M-75 (across from Hotel Walloon and next to Sweetwater Floral) while a new store is being built a block away. This is the latest development project in the downtown area, providing even more reason for people to get off US-131 and Discover Walloon Lake.

The General Store has been an iconic part of Walloon Lake since its founding in the late 1800s. As it has for generations, it will serve as a community hub for those needing lakeside essentials – like groceries, beverages, ice and newspapers, as well as logoed apparel and gifts.

Touting a “taste of things to come,” the Walloon Village General Store now offers everything from fresh meats – including prime steaks; seasonal produce; a variety of traditional and specialty groceries including many snacks-to-go and gourmet condiments; market-made salads, paninis and sandwiches – including the popular Wallooner; pop, water, coffee and tea, as well as beer, wine and spirits; and so much more.

The store will be open seven days a week, with longer hours during the peak summer season. For updates, LIKE the store on Facebook: www.facebook.com/WalloonVillageGeneralStore.

Construction continues on the new, permanent Walloon Village General Store on the main level of The Renwick – a 16-unit luxury condominium building named for Ross Renwick, who operated the General Store at that site at what is now 4036 M-75 North from the mid-1940s through the mid-1960s. The General Store expects to open in that location in early 2024.
